vCard QR code generator
Put your contact card on a business card, badge or conference slide — one scan saves your details. Encoded as vCard 3.0, the format iPhone and Android agree on, and stored entirely inside the code — no server, no expiry.
- vCard 3.0 — the format iOS and Android both parse natively
- Byte budget warnings before the code gets hard to scan
- Free, in-browser, no account — details stay on your device
- Works forever: your data lives in the pattern, not on a server
Frequently asked questions
Why vCard 3.0 and not 4.0?
iOS ignores parts of vCard 4.0 payloads and some Android contact apps reject them entirely. vCard 3.0 with both N and FN fields is the compatibility sweet spot — that's what PermaQR emits, always.
How much contact information fits?
A QR code holds about 2.9 kB, but codes get dense and hard to scan well before that. PermaQR shows a live byte meter with error-correction-aware budgets (about 500 bytes at level M, 300 with a logo at level H) and suggests which fields to drop if you go over — name, phones, email, company and one address fit comfortably.
Can I update my details after printing?
A static vCard code can't change — the data is in the pattern. If you expect your details to change, create a dynamic code that points to a hosted contact page instead; your first dynamic code is free forever, and printed codes keep working even if you cancel.
