Frequently asked questions
Does the recipient's phone send the SMS automatically?
No — scanning opens the messaging app with everything filled in, and the user presses send. That confirmation step is a platform safety requirement, and honestly, you want it: nobody likes a code that texts without asking.
SMS or WhatsApp code — which should I use?
Where WhatsApp dominates (most of Europe, Latin America, India), a WhatsApp code gets more engagement. SMS works with zero apps installed and no data connection, which makes it better for mixed or older audiences. Print both if unsure — they're both free here.
Will this code stop working?
No. The number and message are encoded directly in the pattern. As long as the phone number is active, the code works — there's no service between the scan and the messaging app.
